Furthermore, it is advised that when they are being flossed, they should not start bleeding. However, many people neglect flossing in their regular oral hygiene. Not only does it make you miss more than 35% of your teeth, it also leaves you with an unimaginable amount of germs and bacteria in your mouth.

 

Lastly, it is the achiles' heel of many people across the globe—halitosis. Halitosis is more commonly known as bad breath. Furthermore, it is extremely prevalent in adults and children alike. The effects of halitosis include foul smell from mouth. In some cases, the sense of taste is disrupted as well. As we start to eat pungent foods, this smell can get even more intense. So, dental hygienists consider this to be a criteria of oral hygiene. If your mouth smells bad constantly, you're not getting proper oral hygiene.

Healthy mouth ensures that you are able to consume your diet, talk, smile, laugh properly. Without proper oral hygiene, your bodily health suffers as well.

 

Some of the tips that you can follow for good oral hygiene actually root from the same fundamental principles that we mentioned earlier. Furthermore, everything you do about your oral hygiene should ultimately contribute to the implementation of those three fundamental attributes.

 

Firstly, proper brushing. If not obvious, brushing is in fact one of the most common and effective things to do to maintain your oral hygiene. Not only it gets rid of any debris and dirt on your teeth, it also help you remove some of the plague that has been built up on them. You may have noticed that we said "some of the plague", and not "all of the plague". This brings us to our second point.

 

You should always incorporate flossing in your daily oral hygiene regime. Flossing has been around since forever, yet people have not gotten accustomed to it entirely. Furthermore, many people do not consider it to be part of the oral hygiene at all. Other than that, there is a misconception that flossing ends up creating spaces between your teeth. It may sound real but trust us, it's not. Flossing is completely safe for anyone to do. Speaking of safe things, let's get to our last point.

 

You should always use a tongue scraper to clean your tongue. When you actively use a tongue scraper in your oral health regimen, you eliminate the possibility of plague buildup on your tongue as well as in your teeth. Furthermore, it helps you extensively counter the problem of poor breath and halitosis.
